High-Level Microgrid Schematic
DER-CAM Flow Diagram

A microgrid is a locally controlled grouping of electricity sources and loads that normally operates connected to and synchronous with the traditional centralized grid (megagrid), but can disconnect and function as an autonomous electrical island if physical and/or economic conditions dictate.

The Microgrid Team at Berkeley Lab studies adoption patterns of microgrid technology as well as microgrid controllers.

This site serves as a resource to those interested in our work, and for those conducting their own microgrid research.
