It has been great in so many ways to spend some months at Berkeley Lab. The team is competent and welcoming, the atmosphere is stress-free but still there are always exciting projects going on in which a visitor can take part. The lab has non-stop research and leisure activities, in a quite multidisciplinary and diverse environment.
I joined ETA as a guest researcher with the DER group to collaborate in DER-CAM-related energy analysis studies as well as to develop collaborative research related to my Ph.D. I am currently a finishing doctoral candidate with Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, under the scope of the MIT Portugal Program.
The research periods I have spent at LBL have brought me invaluable experiences and learnings, from both the professional and personal standpoints. These findings became vital for furthering my Ph.D. studies. Also, Berkeley is a wonderful place to live, surrounded by a privileged natural setting and where you can find the peace of mind for highly focused research and still enjoy outdoor sports or a good time with friends.
